Change to the schedule
There was such a huge response to the launch of the Society of History Writers and its Directory that I have had to switch to a weekly updates post rather than the originally-intended monthly editions. There simply would be too much to fill a monthly post if the entries follow their current pattern (this post is already too long for emails…).
An additional roundup post - reader query
I have had a few subscribers reach out asking to share their most recent articles / fiction instalments in a roundup post here on the Society (i.e., rather than just the current email announcing their entry in the Directory). Is that something you would be interested in contributing to? If so, how frequently would you enjoy receiving a post like this?
Call for submissions
A reminder that we are still open for submissions for articles to be shared on the Society. We are entirely submission-based, meaning that only articles submitted by writers are posted (i.e., it won’t be my writing! That’s all shared on my own Substack,
). Thank you for all the articles that have already been submitted. How to contribute to the Society
Entries in the Directory are alphabeticalised by publication name. Inclusion in the Directory does not indicate endorsement of all views held by the author(s). The Directory is updated periodically.
New additions to the Directory w/c 2nd September 2024

In the series, STEMinista protagonist Charley builds a time machine that whisks her back in time to encounter her polymathic "heroes of history" - like Leonardo da Vinci in Renaissance Florence, Emilie the Marquise du Chatelet and Voltaire, in Enlightenment France to learn their secrets as she aspires to be a modern-day Renaissance girl who can "do it all."
In addition to the ancestor memoir-in-process, Releasing Memory, that is the subject of this Substack, she is also currently working on Book V, Struck by Stars, where Charley time travels to the Harlem Renaissance and encounters Zora Neale Hurston.
