Wonderful! Just submitted my details. I do write about different things, some more practical, like the guest post for Foodstack, but on my own account it's more traditions/history rather than specific tips.
It sounds really fun! We also accept submissions for guest posts if you have anything spare up your sleeve (we’re entirely submission based so all articles are guest posts).
Thank you, Holly! I’m currently focusing on my recipe bundle and waffle article coming out soon but maybe some time in October relating to this bundle or later in the year focusing on the holiday season?
I just read about your waffles on Christin Thième’s thread! So fun. I love what you’re doing here and can’t wait to see it all come together. And I love the idea of something holiday food history themed. As and when you have capacity, I’d love to feature your words.
Thanks Tara! Now we just need to get some submissions to begin sharing articles…! But yes, the Directory will help us find new history reads. There’s a roundup of all entries so far coming Saturday!
I started in 1800 and changed the way history happened, starting with the British discovering oil about twenty years earlier than actually happened and is culminating with the Japanese inventing space flight about 90 years later.
Ah yeah sure, I understand. If it's clear that it's fictional then you're totally welcome to submit writing to the Society. But, equally, feel free just to subscribe and enjoy everyone else's writing! There's no entry requirements for subscribers :)
Oh no! I've done something similar with my historical fiction writing here, as I have sometimes taken real historical figures and woven a semi-fictional tale around them. I need to tell people that it's not all truth but some creativity too!
I hope you enjoy reading the articles on The Society (once they're up!) and on Telling Their Tales (my newsletter). It's great to have you here.
I’m so pleased! I’m very excited too. Is the thread working now Gina? I’ve gone into the post settings to change things so it should be accessible now.
I love (seem to be over-using that word), reading history.
Knowing what was, contemplating what would have been, and reminiscing about what could have been if things had turned differently (I sound like a certain presidential candidate).
Can we join the directory if we write about food history?
Of course! Please do. I have a section for thematic history - just note it down as food history when you complete the form 🥰

Thank you, Holly! I’ll let you know when I can 🙂. Waffle article coming in the next couple of days💃.
Great stuff! Really looking forward to reading more
Thanks Luke! There’s a new post up today sharing all the Directory entries so far, if you’re looking for somewhere to start.
What a good idea! There are so many fascinating histories being told on Substack. This is a great way to keep up with many.

Love this 😍 such a beautiful initiative 👏
Thanks Carmen! It seems like something other history folk are grateful for so I’m glad to have been able to put it together.
This is so cool, Holly!!
Thanks Tiffany! It’s gained more subs on the first day than I expected (the same as 3 months on my own Substack lol). It’s so exciting!
That’s awesome, Holly. Congratulations!
I will enjoy reading your posts, but I write Alternative History which doesn't seem to fit in this scope.
What do you mean by alternative history? Any history is welcome!

Gotcha. As it is, I need to add disclaimers now because people were concerned I had my dates wrong :).
Your newsletter is awesome and I've only scratched the surface, it would seem. I look forward to all the new things to learn.

Yay! I'm in!
Hooray! So pleased to have you in the Society 🤣
I'm so excited about this!

So great to have you onboard!
Holly, hey.
Love this. Just love it.

I am just so happy I found the Society.
