Bringing back an old format
When the Society of History Writers first launched back in 2024, new additions to the Directories were shared in a weekly roundup, celebrating the work of history writers on Substack. There aren’t quite the volume of entries now to sustain a weekly email, but I am bringing back a monthly format, in line with the new vision for sharing others’ writing entirely for free (you can read more about that here).

Non-Fiction | Medieval History
They Did What?! History's Weird and Wonderful by
. They Did What?! is a look at fun and interesting stories from the medieval period. It will showcase a blend of short posts and articles, some more academic, some silly! Kicking off with a mini series, 'Sneaky Soldiers', looking at different sieges or wily ways soldiers have captured castles. Also releasing some longer reads now and again on different topics, starting with a Byzantine History focus.
